Shift ICT to host Fitbit Executive at Women in Tech Event on May 2nd
Women in Tech: More Than a Talk
An evening of inspiration and innovation featuring local female tech leaders along with a Fitbit Executive focused on empowering women in tech.
On May 2nd, Shift ICT in collaboration with the Institute of Innovation at Wichita State University will host five female tech leaders that will aim to inspire, engage, and empower women at all stages of their career in tech including Tina Dao, Chief of Staff for Silicon Valley-based Fitbit. Women in Tech: More Than a Talk will be an evening of micro-talks from female tech leaders presenting on a variety of topics, covering STEM and beyond.
“It is important for the Midwest and our nation to grow the tech industry in cities like Wichita,” mentioned Tina Dao, Chief of Staff for Fitbit. “The tech industry needs STEM educated knowledge workers with the kind of hardworking spirit that the people of the Midwest are known for."
"The tech industry often brings with it a rich diversity of people from around the world that enhance the communities they become a part of.” -Tina Dao
Through featuring five female tech leaders that encompass the entire career spectrum of a woman in tech, we are bringing focus to a nationwide problem we face in how we develop, nurture and advance women in tech.
"This event is an opportunity to learn about the interesting and impactful work women are involved in,” mentioned Resha Parajuli, Learning Designer and Design Studio Coach at Wonder. “It’s an opportunity to be a part of Wichita’s growth as a community."
Inspiring a new generation of women to learn tech empowers female entrepreneurs to come up with unique solutions to new problems.
As more and more industries step into the digital age, tech will saturate every part of our economy. Tech is a growing field, one in which top talent is desperately needed and one in which women can’t be left behind.
